I was naive enough to think that political assassinations were a thing of the past. With the death of Shinzo Abe, it seems to have come back again.

this was a cowardly assassination

The U.S. lost a friend (Google: About 42,000 results for "shinzo abe" "friend of america")
Who is Shinzo Abe? All about former Prime Minister of Japan (https://www.jagranjosh.com/general-knowledge/who-is-shinzo-abe-all-about-former-prime-minister-of-japan-1657252968-1)

But but but ... assassinating a former prime minister? Hardly seems to rise to the level of Lincoln, or Kennedy, or Lumumba, or ...
That's kind of like shooting the dog of someone you hate.

I know not enough about Japan, its history and social problems. Therefore, I can say not much about the current events. However, I know that assassination is an useless
means of solving problems. I also noticed the following:
- Shinzo Abe is known to be a conservative. In its first news report, the Tagesschau (main news program on German television) called him a right-winger.
- There is an interesting article from May 2022 about statements (https://see.news/former-japanese-pm-zelenskys-decisions-led-to-outbreak-of-war-in-ukraine/) by Shinzo Abe. He was quoted in a very similar tone in The Economist.
That makes me wonder.
