Communists, apparently

Many degrowth theories and ideas are based on neo-Marxist theory.
It seems so

Rarely seen such an enormous pile of bs*t (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Degrowth#Lack_of_macroeconomics_for_sustainability) on Wikipedia:
There is still no macroeconomic model that can describe a stable economy which does not rely on growth.[115] So far, the modern economy is structurally reliant on economic growth for its stability. If growth slows down, businesses are struggling, unemployment goes up, politicians get nervous and a spiral of recession looms. Moreover, there is no place in the world where it fully exists on a large scale
-
Are you implying that an economy can be stable in recession? Without loss of purchasing power and jobs? Any example?
-
There is a difference between "growth slows down" and "recession". Most EU countries have experienced, for more than a decade, very slow growth. Germany, for example, has had around around 2% GDP growth and absolutely no unemployment problem. There is no economic law that says an economy will fail if it doesn't grow. That's utter nonsense, and it always comes from the same political corner: from those who want to become even richer than they are already.
-
There is a less than flattering expression here in OZ, "Hippies, poofters and greenies" and its pointed at a collection of folks who think that destroying the lives of ordinary people is viable to justify their pipe dreams.
Degrowth means starvation, freezing in the cold, unemployment and massive price rises based on the laws of supply and demand. The world is a far more complex place than an anal retentive approach of just killing off survival with ideological claptrap.
The solution to this self elected elite is to feed them through the end result they have in mind, an empty stomach in the freezing cold while living on the street is a great teacher.

Yes, and here we are talking about degrowth, which is recession. "Slow growth" is growth.
> those who want to become even richer than they are already
Who doesn't want that? The difference is in those who want it through their own work and those who seek it in someone else's work.
I could agree to rationalize the level of consumption to try to rationalize the planet's resources. But you can't fool people, degrowth means loss of purchasing power and unemployment. The ruling elites should share that burden, but what they really seek is more power and wealth. What it is a scam.
Any search to rationalize the consumption of natural resources has to happen, in my opinion, by attenuating the world population, which was already occurring naturally, when the current direction is artificially the opposite. So doubly scam.
