This is an odd title. Why would anyone celebrate a murder? Am I missing some context?

If it is supposed to be some sort of commemoration, shouldn't it be on her birthday TimoVJL?

In addition to the murder of Politkovskaya, the following events took place  in 8-th October:Timo, if your birthday is today, then I congratulate you and wish you all the best!
If you want to remember Politkovskaya, then she is not the politician who is remembered in Russia.

Putin is popular in Russia, and we understand there are good reasons for that. However, in civilised countries you deal in civilised ways with your political opponents.

I just heard news about Putin 70year birthday, got some present from Belarus and greeting from Kim,while one western artist made horrible statue of him
Jochen do you mean like satire like British "spitting images"? And opponent of bozo mean comments after his excuse for partygate?
I guess it won't work get rid of opponents that way in Russia, Boris jeltsin instead got vodka named after him
Finnish PM Sanna marin got away with party videos
I agree with her statement something like PM are also people who need to have fun

Ciao, jj2007!
QuotePutin is popular in Russia
It was about Politkovskaya, but for some reason you remembered Putin? Politkovskaya was shooted 16 years ago, but for some reason I can't remember anything about the good ideas Politkovskaya said or Politkovskaya's good deeds. How many names do you remember of the italian presidents or italian prime ministers who have ruled Italy over the past 20 years? I only remember Berlusconi. Why? Do you remember many deputies of italian parliament?

My dear friend Mikl, I will remember every single journalist who was murdered. No discussion.

Quite right, Magnus.  :eusa_dance:
Good idea to turn this ill-titled topic into the (un)official birthday thread.
