Not so many (https://stratocat.com.ar/globos/2022e.htm). China probably forget to declare this one .

USA is a paper tiger.(Mao words)
;///////////////////////////////
U: 30km,too highly,We can't reach there.
C: let the ball to drop-down. 6km, is it OK?
U: OK, we should shot it.
C: we stated that neither Beijing nor Washington had ever announced that the visit was even being planned.

The real question is, "what else is China up to?" while the foolish Americans are mesmerized by the balloons that china has sent over here... Could it be a diversion for something yet to come?
-
Quite simple thing.
Some chinese forces just won't relation of China and US get any closer.
Just think, what some of chinese forces wants from russia ?

What reason would anyone have, to use an F22 Raptor to shoot down a balloon ?
It has to be done for appearance reasons to look like the government is acting to protect the US. Very vaguely I remember watching a documentary some years ago of a WW2 Japanese attack using balloons with an explosive charge but the ones that got that far crashed in the Rockies.
Perhaps its a case of Deja Vu.

What reason would anyone have, to use an F22 Raptor to shoot down a balloon ?
Just a symbolic thing, some of us knows of that meanings, a message?

Such mass hystery can only happen in the U.S. of A...
It reminded me of crop circles, they don't appear in thickets, full of insects, wild animals, plants full of thorns, only in plantations where you can walk without fear of being happy.
Please aliens, I need to clear a land like this, you will be welcome. There's barbecue and beer after work.

Luckily Chineses didn't lost both balls

Weather balloons are launched around the world for observations used to diagnose current conditions as well as by human forecasters and computer models for weather forecasting. Between 900 and 1,300 locations around the globe do routine releases, two or four times daily (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weather_balloon#Launch_time,_location,_and_uses)
1100*3*365=1,204,500

Weather balloons doesn't means "stratospheric balloon"
-
Could it be a diversion for something yet to come?
No,it was a test.
The USA air defence system only works fine in Hollywood.
F-22 fighter is a high-performance killer of the weather balloon.

This reminds me in some way to this song:
In English: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hiwgOWo7mDc
In German: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fpu5a0Bl8eY
It is a 1983 protest song by the German band NENA, released on their self-titled album. The lyrics are a critique of the prevailing political situation during the Cold War. Carlo Karges, the guitarist of the band Nena, was at a Rolling Stones concert where he saw some balloons being released. As these moved towards the horizon, he noticed how the shape of the whole changed and, instead of looking like balloons, they seemed to him like a kind of spaceship, and he wondered what would happen if they floated beyond the Berlin Wall towards the communist side of Germany. . After this experience he wrote "99 Luftballons".
