TheVerge (https://www.theverge.com/2023/2/8/23590864/google-ai-chatbot-bard-mistake-error-exoplanet-demo):
a major problem for AI chatbots like ChatGPT and Bard is their tendency to confidently state incorrect information as fact. The systems frequently “hallucinate” — that is, make up information — because they are essentially autocomplete systems.
Rather than querying a database of proven facts to answer questions, they are trained on huge corpora of text and analyze patterns to determine which word follows the next in any given sentence. In other words, they are probabilistic, not deterministic — a trait that has led one prominent AI professor to label them “bullshit generators.”

I gather that Google will eventually get their act together and their version will work better but the statement of "bullshit generator" will probably fit this flavour of AI for a long time to come. It would seem that current AI are little better than regurgitation machines even if their range is massive.

Try https://beta.character.ai/
I find it truly impressive. As to "regurgitation machines", true, but attend any gathering of human beings and judge what you hear with the same metrics. There are lots of human regurgitation machines around
I'll be worried when they start writing MasmBasic macros for me

You know what they say about computers... Bullshit In = Bulshit Out. :bgrin:

Chinese shutdown their ai chatbot few years ago, because it wrote sentence that communism was bad :greenclp:
