Title: Course in Game Development
Post by: caballero on January 09, 2013, 04:16:23 AM
The School of Computer Science at the University of Castilla-La Mancha has released material from the first edition of the Course in Game Development. The material, consisting of 4 books over 1,200 pages in total and multiple source code examples, is mainly based on open standards and technologies. Almost all of the examples of the course have been developed on GNU / Linux. You can download books for free on the course website (http://www.cursodesarrollovideojuegos.com/) (PDF format).

I have not seen it yet (lack of time), but it have a great looking. Only for Spanish speakers... ;)

Hello guys, I'm 37 and I know it's not the best age to start learning from the scratch, but I'm really enthusiastic about the whole thing and want to find the best suitable course in game development / design. Can I learn everything myself from the books, tutorials, free courses or should I consider getting an online degree (only online, because I've a son and have to be take care of him)?

SNHU and UAT are offering Game Programming & Development and Game Programming programs online correspondingly. Has anyone here tried those?

Hi Albrecht,

Welcome to the forum.
You don't need a degree, highschool math is enough to create amazing games.
You're never to old to learn anything from scratch, just be creative and your good to go.
There are many software development kits from graphics card vendors you can download and learn from.
Just find the one that suits you and look for online tutorials to get started.
BTW, are you Dutch?
