Title: Files that are independent
Post by: Magnum on January 31, 2013, 05:20:34 AM
I decided to move on from the Office issues after trying out a program that puts programs in their own virtual box.

I am looking at what text file types can't be locked by their respective "creator" program.

I think that .txt and .rtf are safe.

Hi Magnum,

Office 2003 is locking .txt files.

Thanks.

When creating text files I usually use qeditor or Wordpad.

(I wish I could get Qeditor to open up full screen.)

It took quite a while to detach the "tentacles" off a lot of Word files.

When off 2000 was installed in a virtual environment, off 2010 literally disappeared.

Then when the virtual environment program was removed, off 2010 returned like magic. ??

Hi Magnum,

Qeditor or Wordpad is a good choice for text files. I am afraid Office applications are locking all kind of files ( not 100% sure. )

(I wish I could get Qeditor to open up full screen.)

In a batch file: start /MAX qEditor.exe %1

Or, without flashing windows and with a bit more comfort: ShellExecute with SW_MAXIMIZE.
