The Bandwidth Bottleneck, Nature, Aug 11, 2016 (http://www.nature.com/news/the-bandwidth-bottleneck-that-is-throttling-the-internet-1.20392)
...an increasingly urgent problem: with global Internet traffic growing by an estimated 22% per year, the demand for bandwidth is fast outstripping providers' best efforts to supply it.,...
...Data traffic from mobile devices is increasing by an estimated 53% per year,...
When someone uses their phone, its radio signal is converted at the nearest base station to an optical signal that then has to travel to its destination through fixed fibre optics. These flexible glass data channels have been the backbone of the global telecommunications network for more than a quarter of a century. Nothing can match their bandwidth: today, a single hair-thin fibre can transmit 10 terabits (trillion bits) per second across the Atlantic.
The highest-capacity commercial submarine cable now in service is the 60-terabit-per-second FASTER system that opened in June between Oregon and Japan. It sends 100-gigabit-per-second signals on 100 wavelengths in each of 6 pairs of large-core fibres.
Even though data travel through fibre-optic cable at 200,000 kilometres per second, two-thirds the velocity of light in the open air, a person tapping a key in London would still need 86 milliseconds to get a response from a data centre in San Francisco, 8,600 kilometres away,...

The problem is not urgent, we pay to see ads, propaganda and marketing. Remove this crap of internet and life is good again.

Also, remove The Soap Box, The Colosseum and The Orphanage forums ;)

Actually I imagine comm technology will keep up with the demand. Optical techniques have been demonstrated in the lab achieving I bit per 3.7 photons! And theoretically they can get multiple bits per photon, believe it or not. Depends on new optics unknown, even unsuspected, at the turn of the century. So we won't have to remove anything: 99.99 % of internet traffic can remain cr*p.

WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE ???
-
Could you be a little more specific? "Who is X" can be answered very simply with a name. More elaborately, with a list of common attributes (gender, age, height, job etc). But, more fundamentally, it can take a lifetime of introspection to try to comprehend the answer. Ultimately, one finally realizes that one has no idea "who" one really is! And, finally, that it doesn't matter. One should have simply lived - carpe diem -, instead of wasting one's precious time on fruitless metaphysical inquiry. But now it's too late. No time left for living, only dying.
So I'm afraid the question is too broad, as it stands, to address.

INDUSTRIAL ROBOT

Truth is,less people, less data....and the internet "May" help curb over population. Living in your parents basement might hurt your chances of getting "Freaky"....and less freak, less kids...everyone can then spend more time learning and perfecting their assembler skills..simple really...
Geek On everybody...

I once knew an Aussie who insisted on using ML64 even though the entire Northern Hemisphere used superior alternatives! He also thought Wittgenstein was worth reading. Hard to believe but there it is. A real smart-auss. Down under isn't just a saying you know.

Ah well, you know what its like when you are holding the world up. We are also getting some help from the guys in South Africa and South America. One makes allowances for those who are socially deprived or worse, need someone to hold their hot little hand. :P

It has something to do with the VEGEMITE, right? It alters the brain waves,or causes the soul to dance like a crazed Tasmanian devil.
Also might be the effect of all those kangaroo turds everywhere.
-
Ah, you have to grow up with Vegemite to be robust enough to digest it.
> Also might be the effect of all those kangaroo turds everywhere.
The real risk if you are wearing an Armani suit is if a koala piddles on it when you are trying to look like a polititian.
