Title: can't find the network driver for windows 7 pro 64-bit
Post by: shankle on May 29, 2017, 05:36:24 AM
Thanks for any help.
I had to reinstall window 7 pro 64-bit and I can't get online because of the missing
driver. I am afraid to download drivers from the internet.  Any suggestions?
REDO is a piece of crap. The restore didn't work. Now I am going to have to spend
big bucks on Macrium Reflect. The reason I left Clonezillea-live is because it won't
restore from a 1T HD to a 240G sd. The drives have to be the same size. This is
absolute nonsense. Will I have the same problem with Macrium Reflect as I still
have the same size problem????
What in the world do you guys do about backups?

Hi shankle,

Looking at the device manager, can you check the hardware ID of the network card? It's the details tab. Searching the ID on the net, you can find the official driver filers from the manufacturer. You can also try Driver Magician, it's an automated tool detecting the drivers of your operating system.

Thank you Vortex for replying.
Everything in the Device Manager is working but the following:
  under "Other Devices":
    Ethernet Controller
    Pci memory controller
    Pci simple communications controller
    Sm bus controller
    Universal Serial (usb) controller

I installed Speccy and was unable in that program to find any company details

Like Vortex says, look in Device Manager for the hardware ID (something like PCI\VEN_1969&DEV_E091).
Go to http://pci-ids.ucw.cz/ and look up the vendor and device, this will give you the manufacturer.

For restoring to a different sized drive, I use EaseUS - they have a sale on right now (actually, all the time).
