Title: AMD Thread Ripper is coming - and I feel a stirring....

Hi all,

So, if words, specs and acronyms like: asynchronous multi-threading, MIMD, 40MB cache, x399 chipset, TR4 Extra Large Grid Array, 16 Core, 32 Threads etc.

Have you seen the prices of the high end Broadwells ? PHARK they are expensive, this 6 core Haswell I am using has not set a foot wrong since I built the box and while the newer x99 chipset compatible processors do some things better, I cannot see a good reason to spend so much money.

Will generate so much heat that you will be able to run it only inside your fridge.

I have long had a solution to that problem, I built the last this box with a liquid cooled radiator and while the processor is like an acre paddock alongside the i7's and earlier, it seems to run at about 35c so its not a problem. I have always overkilled board/processor setups with big coolers, the last i7 cooler was so big I could not put it into a normal case and had to buy a new wide one. It always ran stone cold.
