I want to install some windows software for my glucose meter. It does not work using wine or crossover. Do I need to buy both win 98 and xp?
I don't think you have to buy win 98. I think you can obtain that abandonware legally and for free from this site:

thanks.
The software expects a newer version than Win 98.
I am using Virtual Box.
Will this install ok ?

I have only tried these windows versions in virtual box: windows 1, 95, 98 and xp. All worked ok. I guess that windows 7 will work, but you will need a well equipped machine to give the virtual machine enough ram or the entire machine (the real one) will be sloooow.
I have 8 gb ram.
Probably it will work:

Thanks.
BTW Which glucose meter are you using?
Does it connect to PC via IR or mini-USB?
AccuCheck nano
No usb port, so I guess it's IR ?
I think so.
We've been using Accu-Check Active for several years. Now Accu-Check Perfrorma.
Both models have IR port but to transmit data to pc they need Accu-Chek Smart Pix Device Reader. It's rather expensive here.
Note that your device can store 500 test results in memory .
For further info read your device manual
No problem.
I keep a written log of my readings.
