Title: Spam Bot reporting for duty!
Post by: Astro on May 23, 2012, 04:52:13 AM
Not really...  :P

Astro here. This a new forum as the old one was hosted in the UK and for various reasons you set this up in Sydney, Aus.

Looking good!

Best regards,
Astro.

Well, another company took them over about 6 months ago, stripped the high profit part of the operation out and then advised all their shared hosting customers that they were retiring the shared hosting platforms. Building it here in OZ has many advantages for me, speed is one of them, I can upload and download data from this server far faster than one on the other side of the world. So far it seems to be fast enough for people around the world.

I confess I did not need this much work in a hurry but it should e around for some time so it will probably even out.

Performance seems really good here at the moment in the UK (late afternoon/early evening UTC).

Best regards,

So Hutch,
How much did you consider a StackOverflow-style knowledgebase site instead of this traditional forum style?

Bilbo, not at all, the forum format does the job well and it makes it relatively easy for many different people with extensive expertise to contribute when they can to other members.
