Healthy salt substitute

I am looking for a healthy salt substitute.

I used some onion flakes and either fresh garlic sliced up or pepper.

No combination came close to replicating the taste of salt.

I thought of using potassium chloride but it does not play well with BP medicines like lisinopril.

Do any of you gentlemen and gentle ladies have any advice?

(My recovery from hernia surgery is going well.)

Thanks,
               Andy

Take care,

Just avoid salt. In fact most of thing you eat already have it. At the begining meals may be a bit insipide, but afterwards they are just good tasted.

Hi,

I am taking lisinopril for my blood pressure.  And I was told to
avoid normal sodium salt also, to help with the blood pressure.
I use "NoSalt" which has seven ingredients listed.  Mostly
potassium chloride apparently.  I was also told to avoid salt for
another condition I had at one time.  Seems to work well for me.

Some of my relatives don't like the taste of NoSalt, but I can't
tell it from regular salt in food.

Steve N.

When my mother was disagnosed with high blood pressure, the doctor of course told her to avoid salt (and sodium content in food in general, i.e., MSG [monosodiumglutamate]). She only prepared fresh foods for herself and did not use any additives that contained sodium. It was rather bland, so she started trying various salt substitues which contained potassium chloride. (I forget the brand names)

Once she started using the salt substitute, she too did not notice the difference. Of course she was totally salt free at that point so anything that tasted a little 'salty' was fine for her. (the salt substitute)

Sorry Andy, I re-read the original post:

So, potassium chloride based substitutes are out of the question for you.

I guess I should ask what problems you expect potassium chloride
to have with using lisinopril?
