Will this connector fit in a standard usb port ?

I can not tell by the picture.

Thanks.

It is a cable that should allow me to use my webcam as a security camera.

It won't need wifi or batteries. I plan on keeping the camera inside and pointing it out my window on the porch.

Looks quite similar. But so do HDMI connector. Hard to tell exactly.
Few minutes later...
Looks more like USB on second look at it. But just because it looks similar doesnt mean it is the same, of course.

What is the product name/model number of the webcam? Do you have the manual? Maybe Google for it?

If you are daring...
Optionally plug it into usb slot, but dont force it. If it doesn't fit (slide on easily), not USB.
If it does fit, Turn on the webcam and see if it shows up as a new device.

Does this help?

USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5 Gbps) Active Extension Cable,
USB-A M/F – 10 m (33 ft.)
Note: Although not required, the additional USB-A male connector on the
cable is provided for applications where power is needed. If your application
is not working correctly without power, connect the built-in connector to a
USB-A port on your monitor or a USB wall outlet.

Is this from the webcam documentation? Looks like only having to do with a charger/power extension cable. (see underlined)
Need to have some specs of the webcam itself.

This identifies it as USB-A connector. But not sure if it for data from the webcam as well, or only for power.
Does this "webcam" have an SD Card or other memory card inside of it... If so not really a webcam, but a digital camera nonetheless.
iirc in webcams the video data is transmitted via the USB cable. Been years since I used one, though.

Can you take/post a picture of the 'webcam'? Or have a brand name/model number? Are you looking to view the output on your computer, or just store the video data for later? This is what is unclear to me.

Thanks for your help. I have some confusion sometimes, getting close to the big 70. :-)

Webcam is a Microsoft HD 5000.

Here is the connector for the webcam.

Okay, you should be good to go then. Definitely a webcam, and definitely a USB connector.
