57 on-line at the same time today!
« on: May 29, 2012, 03:32:27 AM »
I remember the 21 on at one time (the day I registered). That record stood until today. All the rest of the time the max on line count was some trivial number like 5. OBTW, the CodeProject.com usually has 32,000 to 47,000 (FYI).

Simple really, before the domain name was shifted, few could find the temporary site. Once I shifted the domain name its back to normal, guests browsing the site, registered members browsing the site and the search engine bots. Last count was 102.

You noticed that I gave it a Thumb Up. I don't remember the exact percentages or base numbers, but CodeProject.com with 8,800,000 members had 32,000 members online or ~ 0.4%, while we had 57 online out of about 180 or ~ 31.6%.

I don't know how either site tracks membership (I know that several CP members have not posted since 2008 so the membership could be a highly inflated number) or the number online (if someone logs on "forever" is he constantly considered as logged on, or only when he is active). So, yes, figures don't lie, but lyers figure.

on code project, you have to register to d/l an attachment
that's why there membership numbers are through the roof
most of the membership probably downloaded one file - then poof

membership numbers are not what really count
if you want to know how popular a site is, google around
you can find sites that show how many hits a particular site gets

http://www.stathit.com/www.masm32.com
http://www.stathit.com/www.codeproject.com

while masm32 may not get nearly as many hits - it does get a lot
also - if you scroll down to the bottom, ~95% trusted
the other 5% must be baltoro's fault - lol

I have little reason to be interested in the stats of other programming sites as they have little relevance to what is done in this forum. If you have some purpose in running a site for the high volume languages, PHP, C++, VB etc .... you could get the hit count up far higher but its exactly what you don't want in a specialised technical forum, the trampling of the great unwashed through an area where we have members who actually know what they are talking about being drowned out by an endless barrage of nonsense.

well - assembler isn't C - that's obvious enough
it's ok with me that fewer programmers use asm   :P

nonetheless - you can't just look at numbers for one site without comparing it against something else
in statistical terms, a sample of 1 is as good as no sample at all - lol
