what... no cookies ?
« on: May 29, 2012, 05:05:29 AM »
FYI:
After registering and logging in, then leaving the site and returning, I have to login again.
It appears that the site's script is not setting cookies, or something.
I do not have this problem elsewhere, so it's not my setup.
Anyone else experiencing this ?

Steve

Hutch isn't done setting it up, yet
i am sure he will fine-tune it when he has time

in the mean time, wouldn't want you to be unhappy....

Its the "or something".

The domain name took some time to point to the new server and this may be a variable around the world depending on what server a person its connecting to the internet through. It works fine here as soon as the domain name worked. In the interim while the old forum was still using the domain name this forum was accessible through a branch from the masmforum.com address. Now that masm32.com is pointing to the current server that link should be changed back to www.masm32.com/board/index.php .

You will have to forgive he minor inconveniences involved as I have found having the UK account retired extremely inconvenient in that I have had to fund a new server in Australia, configure the Linux server from scratch and I truly HATE Linux servers, reconstruct a forum with modern software, backup and archive the old forum with 8 years of postings, build a server on my local machine to run the old forum locally so I can edit the database, then I have had to move and correct all of the rest of the web site and move the domain names to the new server and funnily enough I don't get paid for any of this.

Thanks for the update Hutch.
After going back to the original registration reply, and resubmitting my username, it now lets me stay logged in.
So, I think its working now.  :icon14:

I just want to say thanks for all you do for the Masm community, Hutch.
Your efforts are not wasted.

Is that supposed to be www.masm32.com or just masm32.com

Logging in today, firefox did not autofill my password and I see that the url is not the same as when I reregistered.
I think I have three now; masm32.com, www.masm32.com and masmforum.com

configure the Linux server from scratch and I truly HATE Linux servers,

Just their servers ?
All linux documentation and applications suck. Been that way for years and they haven't changed a thing. Just dressed it up in a nice brown turd called Ubuntu (which they painted purple and hoped we didn't mind the stink).
