I am thinking about getting an 8000 btu window unit.

How reliable are they ?

Would they last at least 5 years ?

Any brands you would recommend ?
Take care,

8000 BTU 's seem to last a good 5 years. Don't worry about brand name, they're all made in the same factory in Quangdong province.

Wow - Magnum is far ahead of hutch! How does he do it? I've only got 12 topics started, afraid I'll never catch up. Who's on third?

Thanks.

I have a lot to share and there are so many knowledgeable folks here.
It would be foolish not to learn.

Interesting indeed. We should reflect about a top ten weighted by usefulness for other forum members - no, wait, that would push Dave even further up. Maybe by share of religious propaganda?

Dave is a funny and interesting dude.

He rarely posts anything controversial. :-)

As I said b4 (my first post, in fact), dedndave is probably the most all-round useful member, and belongs on "top" post-wise. I wish qWord would post more. I'm at 599, almost half as many, which ain't right - but then I post a lot of b******t as well as useful stuff. Of these top 10, I hate to say it but only Magnum doesn't really belong there, in terms of contributing assembler knowledge. However, Magnum, u do keep things stirred up and mainly post in Soapbox, Colosseum, Orphanage, where these topics belong, so I'm not complaining.

Main article: Economy of Guangdong

The economy of Guangdong is large enough to be compared to that of many countries. in 2014, the gross domestic product (GDP) is about $1104.05 billion, Guangdong has been the largest province by GDP since 1989 in Mainland China.

1100 billion ?

That blows my mind.  :dazzled:

The reason why I stopped contributing to assembler knowledge is cuz L**** became my primary O.S. about a year ago.
I try to contribute in other areas.

2 houses ago, we had one that lasted at least 15 years.  Was still working when we left, but new house had central AC so we left it behind...

If you are going for a large unit like that,a wall sleeve would be the best to use. Window units are really only good for the smaller 5000 btu units.

Magnum

They replaced the compressors in my apartments.

They gave me a loaner window unit until the repairs were finished.
