Thou shall not cast dispersions on Microsoft's OSes.
I have had 2 messages removed from the Windows 10 and Windows 7 forums because
they were questioning the terrible OSes  from Microsoft.

Spare me from monopolies :(

That's "aspersions", not "dispersions". Etymologically, the word comes from "ass-persons", - like Bill Gates.
I am NaN ;)

Thanks RRR for correcting my bad English error.

Just discovered this thread -

I've been teaching my self-made  IT commandments since 2006 (students seem to enjoy them),
up to Commandment 16 so far:

Commandment 11: Thou shalt backup ... (fill your deity here) saves why don't you ?
Commandment 12: Thou shalt document ... why struggle twice
Commandment 13: The answer depends ... context is everything
Commandment 14: Trust but audit ... it's ok to check up on people
Commandment 15: Install role ... then reboot
Commandment 16: Consider upgrade only after first service pack

Are you pondering what I'm pondering? It's time to take over the world ! - let's use ASSEMBLY...

Some others that have'nt made it to the list yet (maybe RRR, hutch etc. - can make them more savvy)

Candidate 1: If all else fails read the instructions / screen  (something like RTFM - I guess)
Candidate 2: Program on paper - code on keyboard (think/know I stole this from someplace)
Candidate 3: Read the License Agreement - you might not actually want to agree

Are you pondering what I'm pondering? It's time to take over the world ! - let's use ASSEMBLY...

LOL
So I should have called mine the 17th commandment....

17: Thou shalt not delete files unnecessarily

Raistlin

erm... @dedndave

Commandment 17: Don't delete what you don't understand?

Commandment 1,999:

Thou shalt not have two instances of an editor open with the same file, and saving the
wrong one overwriting the latest changes, then close the other without saving.

The worst thing is when BOTH of the versions have been modified. You have to save both to different files and combine changes. BAH!

thou shalt ...

enjoy coding: if you don't like it you won't be good at it. Try basket-weaving instead

plan, then type: if you don't know where you're going you'll never get there

test it: half the job is coding, the other half is making sure it works

not be clever: the simple solution is usually the best solution

learn some assembler: where the rubber meets the road, where the code meets the silicon

not respect your teacher: if he was any good he'd be at Google making real money

--- Advice for a software career ---

work hard, but not too hard: A career is a marathon, not a sprint

not be moody, always professional: anger is for losers

not try to prove how smart you are: they'll figure it out soon enough
I am NaN ;)
