Wiffie received this disturbing email from a guy that used to work for the government.
I have an external device that I can disconnect my USB drives when I don't need them.
This solves the problem 95% of the time....
However, please read the following and I would appreciate your insight.

USB Flash Drives have been a serious threat for at least ten years..
They are a convenient source for inserting Malware into any computer....
The component that allows this to happen on the Flash Drive is the
"firmware Driver" on the memory stick that manages the information
process of storage and retrieval of any data to be handled by the
"Flash Drive"....The computer sees the Flash Drive as a trusted part
of the computer itself....That is the beauty of either a Malware insertion
or a legitimate storage device....How do you, "the user" tell the
difference?  Basically you can't...except to remember anything made in
China, like a Flash drive, is potentially a malware delivery system also.

This is one of the reasons why the Military & Government have "outlawed
their use"  Remember what Hillary Clinton passed to her Lawyer? with
e-mail data from her server? A flash drive, which the Department of
State would not allow on any of their sponsored systems.  Was it "made
in China"....did it infect her system? All good questions that even her
IT GS-15 expert could not answer.  Pleading the 5th, he really doesn't
have to worry about any of those things.

The Russians have come up with a better use for "Flash Drives" (leave
it to the Russians to come up with a more powerful system)...

It's called the "USB Killer"  It actually within seconds delivers a
dangerous voltage spike to the very sensitive "Mother Board" making
your computer as usefull as a paving stone in your driveway...A free
gift that delivers a "Wallop"....Anyone love "Flash Drives"? They are
convenient when designed and operated without evil intent...But you
have to be the judge on which ones are valid. We have found Malware
flash drives available for sale at COSTCO....Costco had no idea or
could care less at the working level if they were a malware delivery device.

USB Sticks" If someone leaves one where you can use it, think twice!!

USB Killer 2.0 is More Powerful to Damage any Computer

The first version of USB Killer consisted of a DC/DC converter, a few
caps and an FET. When plugged into a system, the converter in the USB
Killer would charge the caps up to -110V, apply that voltage to signal
lines of the USB interface, and repeat the entire process until
everything possible in the computer is broken down.

However, the second version of USB Killer dump -220V directly onto the
signal lines of the USB interface, which is powerful enough to damage
practically any computer with a USB port.

Another major improvement in the new version of USB Killer is the
reaction rate. Once plugged into a computer, USB Killer 2.0 takes only
a few seconds for the PC to shut down and stop working.

Jack,

You shouldn't read and believe all that Republican anti-Clinton propaganda. True is however, this USB killer exists. False: It wasn't "the Russians", it was one Russian guy, and no, it wasn't Putin 8)
