Microsoft Security Essentials ?
« on: November 12, 2015, 06:20:34 PM »
I just found out that Microsoft Security Essentials uses an extra 1 gig of memory while running. I have found Windows defender does the normal job and I use MalwareBytes for on demand scanning. Fascinating memory usage, I wondered why a win32 app that normally show 2.5 gig available in Win32 suddenly only had 1.5 gig available, solution was simple, uninstall Microsoft Security Essentials.

Windows defender seems to replace Microsoft security essential.
He can be downloaded for many versions of Windows

Like Yves said, MSE is for 7, they changed the name for 8/10 to WD.

One reason I used MSE is because it used bugger all resources, certainly much less than 1GB.
