Some fast sailing footge from the Sydney to Hobart race.
« on: January 12, 2017, 06:13:35 PM »
I don't know if any are into this stuff but I found some video of a maxi racing in the Sydney to Hobart race back in 2014 hitting 38 knots on the way down the coast.

I am not impressed by much but this is genuinely impresive.

When I was younger, I used to sail boats in the 40-50'' range - and we got excited when the speedo approached the ten knots. So judging from my personal experience, I thought spontaneously "they uploaded an accelerated video". The music adds to that impression. But after a while, you realise that the crew is just moving normally. Wow :t
