I have more or less learnt how to use the new microphone and have used it in a video. You may not be interested in the subject material but I would be interested to see if folks from non-English speaking countries can understand my Australian accent.

Sound good  :t

The sound volume I normally use is 17 and I had to increase it to around 45, so it's a bit low.

If I am sincere, it is difficult for me to follow the spoken language of Shakespeare many times. So, my recommendation is to add subtitles.

I would say that American English is more nasal than the British, to which I see no difference with yours, that I think it is very clear and slowly enough to understand. :t

Brazilian here, loud and clear too.
It´s a lot better than the machine voices for my liking. I would definitely stick to it.

Just my 2 cents:
1. It´s a good practice to apply a fade in at the starting cut, and a fade out at the end.
2. I´m not familiar with Audacity, but I find it extremely odd a declicker taking about 3 dbs out of the overall level. The declicker should only hit the clicks. For other issues you should try a decrackle or a denoiser.

Nice video by the way!
Cheers Alex

Really good tutorial - Audacity should pay you for this :t

Your accent sounds like slightly weird British to me, but it's easy to understand.

Maybe I have a problem, I cannot see accent on your voice.
I have understood 3/4 of what you have said, but I'm not a speaker.
I'd rather be this ambulant metamorphosis than to have that old opinion about everything

Only thing that might not be understood is Aussi slang,You might not understand if I used American slang(It changes so fast, even I have to ask my Daughter  what things mean) example: Hot boxing.

hot boxing drugs
getting into a car, rolling up the windows and getting high. The whole purpose of this event is to celebrate manhood by lighting up joints in a closed car, therefore inhaling more of that pure weed smoke.
Me and Rob went hotboxing in his car, we got faded as fuc*

I had to search it because even my daughter did not know what it meant.Slang changes very fast here in the good old US.

Thanks guys, I run into this problem here in OZ that often when I say something to someone, I get this blank look followed by a "Huh" and while I think it is in part a problem communicating with the "mobile phone" zombie generation, I needed to make sure that it could be understood by folks from non-English speaking backgrounds.

I have the volume turned to 100% in the OS setting and in the video editing software but the volume is still a bit low. It is a reasonably good quality microphone and it probably does not have the level of gain of the low priced cheapies. If I record in Audacity I can just increase the volume but then sound recorded in Audacity is not synchronised with the video. I will find a way around it sooner or later.

Alex,

Another one of your suggestions has been very useful in both repairing and modifying tracks. Audacity has an effect called "Sliding Tim Scale/Pitch Shift" which I have used to "de-muddle" sections of recordings that have been done too fast and jammed complex signal together making a mess of it, its also been handy with MIDI files that need to be adjusted either longer or shorter.

LATER : I have the low volume problem knackered, downloaded a couple of toys from the internet, added 12 db and its now loud and clear.  :greenclp:

Improve a lot at 3:40. Apparently from this point you remembered to breathe before to speak. :t

Waddya mean "pump" shotgun, real men[tm] use a genuine 12 guage double barrel shotgun, not one of those new fangled things from the 20th century.

Can you send me a small sample of what you were taking when you posted this ?

I say that in jest.

Have a good nite.
