First PC i could touch was an ibm or similar clone with ms-dos (don't know which version) in school. We used floopy disks to save are homework (both the 3.5 and the other much bigger, 5.x? inches, don't remember...). We learned and practice some basic commands like cd cd.. dir, etc and finally after that, teacher let us play games: it was td3, gorilla and others. Also i remember that just 1 of those computers in that time in school were on color, so we had to make turns to use it and play td3 with it... :P

My first contact with a PC clone was in mid 80's, when my company sent everybody to a seminar to learn about MS-DOS, Lotus 1-2-3 and WordPerfect. I never used WordPerfect again.  :biggrin:

Personally, I found it so much easier to use than the MS equivalents that I'm still using WordPerfect to this day. Mind you that over the years I have upgraded to at least the 'Suite 8' version.

Probably, I would have got used to it had I the chance to. However, I just read it lacks support for Unicode (after all these years) - this is a big MINUS.

Hi,

   @Raymond

   Oops.  I still use WordPerfect 5.1 and the WordPerfect
Programmer's Editor.

   @AW

   Well WordPerfect had a large set of fonts, for languages and
symbols.  And I think it predated Unicode.

   My first home computer was a Fairchild/Mostek F8.  After I
croaked that, I got a Zenith computer with a Zilog Z80.  Friends
had C-64, TRS-80, and Apple ][ computers.  And off we went.

Cheers,

Steve
