Just curiosity
« on: October 30, 2017, 12:59:08 PM »
No theory related, but if you want to say something about it, you are welcome:

Are there left handers in the forum?

Btw, i'm not.

Well, sometime ago, when playing football (soccer) i used the left leg, but that's another thing.  :P.

right-handed here

in ancient rome, they used to think being left-handed was evil
the latin word for right-handed was "dexter"
the latin word for left-handed was "sinister"
if a child looked like they were going to be left-handed, they would tie that hand behind their back

i looked into it at one time
from what i can remember, about 10% of the population is left-handed
depends on geography - not so much, sex

color blindness is about 8% i think
higher for men than women
geography also important, but not as much as in left-handedness

i thought it was important enough to offer a layout flip for one program  :P

I'm right-handed and left-footed, so maybe I'm evil from waist down

In Spanish right-handed is "diestro" that also means skilled. Left-handed is "siniestro" that also means evil, so it is usually called "zurdo" instead of "siniestro".

I didn't know that meaning of "dexter". Just the series I'm watching now, very good.

I'm curious for the meaning of "mano3r". "Mano" is the Spanish word for "hand".

That's interesting, I'm right-handed and left-footed too.

I think right handed and left leading work together, most boxers are authodox where the exception is southpaw, most goal kickers are left footed in rugby. I am personally right handed but do many things left handed, I use an oxy torch left handed, use a hammer left handed, can use many tools either left or right handed and I think its just practice. When you start to learn something, you do it the hard way if you want everything reversed to left handed so its simpler to learn it right handed from the start.

I use tinsnips right handed because the vast majority of tinsnips/shears are right handed. I own the left handed varieties but its the cut direction that dictates the tool, not which hand you use with the tool.

I heard that the netherlands has the biggest concentration of left handed in the world. I think it was in a soccer match.

A recent study shows that everybody knows left-handers are superior to right-handers in every way. Smarter, more handsome, stronger, braver, wittier, and far more humble. That's been scientifically proven now, so there's no point in arguing about it. You'll just have to learn to live with it.

Apparently this has to do with teeth: When your a toddler you stuff things in your mouth and the hand you use depends on which side you chew.

When you left handed you tend to cover up the words as you write so you need (and develop) good memory.
