I need a favour with a 48 second video clip.
« on: November 16, 2017, 01:30:03 PM »
I shot this test piece at 4k, sized it down to 1080 then posted it on Youtube. What I am testing is the compression ratio that Youtube apply to posted videos. Earlier when I have optimised the size and bitrate, Youtube have PHUKED it up by re-compressing it so with this test piece I set the bitrate to 8k instead of the 2k to try and get the size down and from my own connection it looks OK in 1080, 720 and reasonable at 480.

Could I impose on a few folks from different parts of the world to have a quick look at it as different countries have different bandwidth in running video from Youtube. ALSO turn the sound off, the wind noise is very bad.

Guys,

Thanks for your help here, it gives me some idea of how it can be accessed from around the world. Sorry about only having 360 res in Russia, probably a bandwidth limitation and sad to say I can't do much about it. I went out today to shoot some video down near the harbour but I only made it to the local coffee shop and it became overcast and windy so while I was having a coffee Luis pulled up and was delivering a parcel so he was the target for the day.

I later solved the sound problem by finding the ffmpeg "-an" option to turn the sound off as most point and shoot video cameras have truly lousy sound recording and all you get is wind noise and traffic sounds. Its now in the interface I wrote for running ffmpeg.

Looks very nice from Portugal.

@JJ - Why your debug info does not show gpu model?
Mine is:
"gpu": "ANGLE_(NVIDIA_GeForce_GT_640__Direct3D11_vs_5_0_ps_5_0)"

Don't say sorry , Hutch. It's ok. I've already told you about this issue earlier.
Note that I CAN view music videos in up to 1440p.

Did anyone else look into Settings->Quality options?

Normally Youtube produces a list of resolutions from the uploaded resolution down to the smaller ones. I have got the best results from learning the options in ffmpeg so I can take footage directly from the camera and change the size and adjust the sharpness. The footage has to be done properly and be in focus but if the original footage is OK, you can make a reasonable fist of it by carefully tweaking the options of bitrate and the sharpness settings to get the best out of it. It seems that if you post the video at a larger bitrate which means a bigger file then the Youtube compression of the bitrate does not drop it enough to wreck the video.

I will have to try this with GoPro footage as it is generally larger that what I get out of the Nikon. I have tested a few so far but Youtube compression turns them to trash.

I am curious, what is a good recorder screen that also works on XP?, I just gone thru lots of stuff, directdraw and gdi and old direct3d stuff and 16bit dos stuff that wont work anymore on newer windows and it would be a good idea to post for posterity sake on Youtube, Before the stuff is collecting dust in its backup drive
I mean everyone could contribute to short clips that could be put togheter to one bigger video on Youtube showing what you can do with masm and even maybe show 1k messagebox and a usual 8k starter executable
ive seen siekmanski earlier made a great 3dlandscape with masm32+directx

Maybe I'm a bit late here. The video is well viewed here in Spain, a bit of windy noise, I can perceive some kind of background music, I can not distinguish it. Engine noise, too. No audible conversation.

I watched the clip with 1080p on my new 4K screen. Good quality, indeed.

Get your facts first, and then you can distort them.
