I did not realize how hard spam is to detect until I read this.

https://charcoal-se.org/

Am curious as to the amount of spam that comes this way and percentage blocked.

Take care,

I don't know if any gets blocked automatically,  but it gets easier to spot

Maybe you should explain why you think these links point to spam.

Maybe you should re-read my post. :-)

Still, I cannot see any spam when I open zedd's links. It has become a habit in this forum to post links without any comments, maybe it should become another habit to just ignore such posts completely.

Magnum

The posts looked more like off tpiic. Alt.home.repair is so full of off topic that the group is ruined.

Sorry 'bout that I was on the bus on my way to work. Bumpy ride, not a lot of time to post.
I know the thread topic said spam, but I was thinking bots. The two links pointed to posts by now ex-member
'Gertrudez' made this morning. They were bot posts, not specifically spam-bot posts - I was thinking about all
the bot postings on this forum recently.

Hutch had probably removed those posts (and bot-member) by the time you and Magnum viewed the threads in those links.

"Maybe you should explain why...." Dad! It's really you!  NOT.   :icon_confused:

daydreamer did not post those two links  ::)

The posts pointed at by those two links are now in the dust bin.

And to Magnum, sorry I did not follow your link in my original post. I know it is about spam detection, I was thinking bots. The two posts I linked were bot posts made just this morning and the Garbage Collection service has already been around to make the pickup.  :bgrin:

Spotting bot posts is fairly easy.  8)

Usually the English language syntax is out of whack, and in general what they post makes no sense or has any substance. A lot of generalizations. I wish I had copied some of the horribly written posts - to show as an example.

Yes. It costs you a few seconds more, and it spares everybody else the effort to open a new page without knowing why. And don't worry, you are not the only one who posts URLs without any hint where they lead to. It is a lousy habit.
