Microsoft Humour.
« on: October 03, 2019, 12:28:53 AM »
After adding some more apps into my recently built Win7 64 box, I went to turn it off and found that Microsoft Update was waiting in ambush to install 179 updates. If I remember rightly, I had to re-install Win7 on my other Win7 box after a disk failure and once I got it installed it took many hours to handle all of the updates that Microsoft had waiting for it.

Lucky I was not going to sleep any time soon, typically if you do that you wake up to a dialog box that has stopped everything from finishing and you still have hours of more updates to go.

Hi Hutch,

My method is to integrate the hotfixes to the main Windows 7 setup file install.wim. At work, an updated copy of install.wim saves a lot of time.

Yes, slipstreaming all of the updates makes good sense. I have not done much with Win7 for years so I don't have all the updates. When I woke up this morning, the updates had all been installed and the machine had been turned off. When I started it, it did a couple more reboots and is now up and running.

For future installs, use this before the install
