VB is the worst - who knew....

Disclaimer (click bait) :
This post was not meant to miscontrue the idea that assembly
language was a dreaded development environment = quite
the opposite. Normal people are weird afterall.
Are you pondering what I'm pondering? It's time to take over the world ! - let's use ASSEMBLY...

Actually, it's VBA, non VB, on rank #1. VB6 has a very, very active forum with top quality contributions. Sometimes I consult it when I am stuck with WinAPI problems.

P.S: IMHO C++ deserves a much higher rank

LOL 😊 Thank you Prof JJ
I never loved any of the VB derivatives - please forgive
my un-intended bias. Science (real) rulez. To clarify,
definition wise VB is a programming language versus
VBA is an unholy abortion from hell <- potentially the
antiChrist of anything that is logic.

Me about VBA, 9 years ago
VBA uses Assembly: Fast text file to string array routine for Visual Basic (VB6)

I have a thick pile of VBA code built up over the years to make M$ Word an acceptable tool.

every language has its use, pros and cons, java was nice before to code applet demo/game when it was popular when your .exe version of demo/game,people was too paranoid to test

and probably most employers dont let you code for them in asm,so I learned some of these on that list
so have coded masm32 have advantage when coding windows cpp programs, but goes both ways
but also advantage of adjust from DOS days, hog your cpu 100% in hardloop codestyle to "be nice and share resources(cpu, memory, soundcard, gfx card) codestyle

Long long ago I like VB1 and 2 but as of 3 the great interface was gone and it was just a pile of crap. I could do more with Word For Windows 2.0c, VB was so toothless. Many were beguiled by VB and the later versions but Microsoft shafted them all when they changed it dramatically and broke all of their old code.

There came this realisation that you actually had to write CODE to get things done, you just could not scrawl out an interface and click check boxes and I saw many who tried to migrate to other versions of BASIC often with little success. Like JJ I used GFA Basic as the current version of C 7.0 was a genuine DUD but with the coming of 32 bit Windows it was PowerBASIC and MASM. Never looked back.
