I found this interesting article.

https://www.clickorlando.com/features/2020/03/31/why-are-liquor-stores-considered-essential-during-covid-19-pandemic-here-are-5-reasons/

I wondered how liquor stores can be considered essential.

Are liquor stores open in non-US countries?

In most European contries you can buy liquor in ordinary supermarkets.

Bottle shops and similar booze distributors are available in most countries around the world with only a few exceptions. Are they open in the US as well ? Perhaps the new WOKE (politically correct morons) are trying for prohibition again.

In the US, liquor stores are still open.

But all bars are closed.

Grocery stores only sell beer and wine.

With so many businesses closed, the failure rate will be immense.

I don't know what is happening in "non-Portugal" countries.
Here, we sell liquors in supermarkets and not much people is looking into that. The same happen with toilette paper and all the supermarket items in general. All shelves are filled up, no rushes, normal queues.

cheers!

I'm not very into spirits drinks, but I think they sell normally in any supermarket, the next time I go to buy I'll look. I usually buy a bottle of wine from time to time, no restriction for that.

Carrefour bought about 30 Makro stores in Brazil.

Here in the countryside the liquor stores are open, just barred the entrance. More beer or cachaça is sold here, the habit of whisky, wodka and wine became secondary if you compare with beer but it has a specific niche.
Cachaça is internally called "pinga". At the time of slavery, slaves were using a huge cauldron of sugar cane to manufacture sugar. The hot steam rose and hit the ceiling. There it accumulated and formed drops that later "fell, dripped, droppped down". The slaves wanted to drink water so they reached out their hands to catch these supposedly falling drops of water. The colonial masters began to realize that the slaves were getting drunk. This is the root story of the "drip".
Basically it is ethyl alcohol. The root difference between cachaça, pharmaceutical alcohol and fuel alcohol (ethanol) is the gradation. When there was no regulation on the alcoholic percentage, there were cachaças with more than 80% to 90% alcohol, several people died of cirrhosis.
I'd rather be this ambulant metamorphosis than to have that old opinion about everything

That is a funny story, I guess if you were a slave, getting drunk would be a viable undertaking.

Why liquor is essential?  A cup of tea is my preference.

Você pensa que cachaça é água
Cachaça não é água não
Cachaça vem do alambique
E água vem do ribeirão

Pode me faltar tudo na vida
Arroz feijão e pão
Pode me faltar manteiga
E tudo mais não faz falta não
Pode me faltar o amor
Há, há, há, há!
Isto até acho graça
Só não quero que me falte
A danada da cachaça

Google translation:
Do you think cachaça is water
Cachaça is not water no
Cachaça comes from the still
And water comes from the stream

I may miss everything in life
Rice, beans and bread
I may lack butter
And everything else is not needed
I may lack love
ha, ha, ha, ha!
I think it's funny
Just don't want me to miss
The damn cachaça

Good quality assembler is driven by hard spirits, Vodka in Russia, Bourbon in the US, Slivovitz in the Balkans, Schnaps in Germany/Austria, Sake in Japan and Pure Malts for the connoisseur. The trick is to get the amount right, under do it and you code will be limp wristed, over do it and you may not write any code at all. For those who are culturally forbidden to consume alcohol, real[TM] Turkish coffee has got enough grunt to inspire you. If you are an adventurist, Turkish Raki will rot your sox, give you zits and make you fat but its great stuff if you like aniseed flavouring.
