The number of covid cases have started to go back up again in Texas.

It's mainly caused by "dumnkopfs" who get too close to others.

Especially prevalent in bars.

It's inevitable that there will be some clowns to mess things up for the rest who are maintaining social distance.

Texas recently mandated that all business employees wear masks.

It looks like most, if not all fitness places will never return.

I feel for all those businesses.

Take care and stay safe,

And then you have their KING who encourages them to do it, even organizing a huge rally in an enclosed space, where you would expect thousands of worshipers to hail him shoulder-to-shoulder!!!! :thdn: :thdn: :thdn:

I agree with you about Trump.

I feel he is arrogant and has caused much division in the U.S. and the world.

So what? Spain looks worse at 606 deaths per Million. I am German btw (107 dpm)

Yeah, you do not need to convince me of the disastrous management of the Spain's gov, it is worse than the official figures count, perhaps someday we will know them.

I just wanted to put in context your assertion about how bad the US government was doing.

So I finally feel that you are proud to be German?

I am proud to live in Italy. The virus circulated here months before the Chinese government informed the World that there might be a problem. Unfortunately it started in Lombardy, where a bunch of right wing fanatics had privatised a great share of the sanitary sector, almost as in the U.S., so the disaster was not really a surprise: over 1,600 deaths per Million. The rest of Italy is doing just fine.

Anyway, you should be familiar with the problem: In Spain, austerity legacy cripples coronavirus fight

QuoteDuring the Spanish boom times ahead of the financial crisis, the country's spending on health care was close to the EU average.

That changed in 2011, as the economy spiraled downward and a newly elected conservative Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy embarked on a program of heavy spending cuts. He started by slashing a combined €10 billion from the health and education budgets and kept up an austerity program for much of his tenure, which ended in 2018.
Investment in the health care sector has dropped from 6.8 percent of GDP in 2009 to 5.9 percent in the government's most recent draft budget — far below the current EU average spending of 7.5 percent of GDP.

The excuse for austerity is what this government has seized on. And it seems that everyone repeats this mantra. The next objective should be to wash the management of this government internationally.

Two of the countries with the best performance against covid with strong austerity measures, few countries outperform their good management against covid, with governments of different colors, by the way:

Portugal: 1,534 deaths, 10,28M. 149.221789 dpm
Greece:     190 deaths, 10,72M. 17.72388059701493 dpm

The supposed austerity is preceded by a disastrous management of Zapatero that left the country bankrupt, it is worth remembering this. Also, I don't know where that supposed austerity is, public salaries have been growing throughout the time of crisis, while private ones were reduced.
