The latest version of Windows Firefox hung each 3 hours.

And I always thought it was something wrong on my end.

I have had several versions of firefox, and always hoping the next version wouldn't 'hang' occasionally.

At version 39 point something now and it still hangs quite often, only recourse for me is to close it with task manager.

Oh, and yes I HATE when software insists on being updated. Sometimes (most times) newer does not == better, imo.

I also really hate anything "New and Improved" especially when I found nothing wrong with the original - be it food, electronics, software, etc

You can lengthen the interval with app.update.interval and app.update.promptWaitTime

Use about:config

I have mine set to 1209600 which is every two weeks.
Take care,

A few days ago I had to reboot my notebook, so the usual Adobe box popped up saying Flash has become more stable, faster, user-friendly bla bla. So, being an obedient Windows user, I updated Adobe Crap.

I love Adobe

Heavy SSD Writes from Firefox

Quote
Even if the workstation was left idle with nothing running on it but a few browser windows, it would invariably write at least 10GB per day to the SSD.

Mozilla justifies it as "user data must be kept safe" :eusa_boohoo:

A propos Firefox: Has anybody noticed that the latest 64-bit version has "forgotten" how to select code?

Code: [Select]
Click 'Select' to see that this is a FAT NEW Firefox BUG
Works fine in my last 32-bit version from November 2016 8)

Update 1: We are testing other browsers. Currently in the middle of a Chrome Version 52.0.2743.116 m test. We have been able to see a pace of over 24GB/ day of writes on this machine

There is a solution, the portable version of SlimJet. If your box has a lot of memory, use the 64 bit version, if not use the 32 bit version.
