Self inflicted punishment ?
« on: December 04, 2021, 10:13:37 PM »
I have finished the Huananzhi and was tweaking the old i7 box which is up and running like a new one so I updated the BIOS and tried to set the secure boot. The setting could be done but it killed the BIOS stone dead. The box would not power up at all.

There is a technique with these x99 Gigabyte boards to reflash the BIOS so I reflashed the BIOS back to the earlier version, set the secure boot option again and killed it stone dead again. I gave up on the secure boot after that, re-flashed the BIOS again and have to settle for OS virtualisation and the TPM 2.0 module.

The newer one that I am currently using is close enough to identical with the same processor and memory so I can experiment with the old box. The 14 core E5-2697v3 is supposed to be here in OZ just waiting to be delivered so I may have a play with that in the old box.
