I installed the last version of Avast on Windows 8 and it works pretty well, but all applications built with Masm32 or GoAsm fire a (false) possibly virus warning. You can ignore it.

i am having some good luck with AdAware, actually
and - i don't use "scan-on-access" type AV's
but - 2 clicks in MsConfig and 2 clicks in the Services Manager snap-in and it's disabled :P
