Title: Battery charge time formula
Post by: Magnum on May 01, 2014, 01:25:46 PM
6 VOLT 4.5AMP HOUR RECHARGEABLE SLA 4.5AH SEALED BATTERY

If I use a 500 Mah charger to charge it, is there a formula to determine the charge time based on the starting voltage ?

Thanks gentlemen and scholars.

the first problem you'll run into is that each manufacturer has a different set of specs
batteries are really a science, all their own - especially rechargables

the best charging systems employ a diode built into the battery
it is used to measure the tempurature of the battery
(with a small forward bias, a diode Vf provides a very linear indication of tempurature)
the charger then has another diode to measure room temp
it stops charging when the battery temp reaches a certain level above room temp
