Sorry for any inconvenience, appeared to be a host problem.
Ray broke it - lol
(he was the last to post before it went down :P )
Second time around the problem was upstream from my server so I am happy there was nothing wrong at the server end. Hoping there will not be a third, I don't really need to be doing diagnostics between 3:30 and 6 am.

I was wondering why I couldn't get back to the site after the post. So I kept blaming Win10 like I do every time any other program simply stops working for no apparent reason and rebooted the computer.
When I eventually tried getting to the site again a few hours later, it came in fine. My assumption that Win10 was responsible was reinforced but, as my signature maintains, it was still an assumption!!!
we can't blame Ray for the second one ;)
After getting a full night's sleep, it seems the provider has solved the problem. As far as I can gather the problem was a large scale DDOS attack higher up the node that this server is on as I gather that some of the very large sites are on the same node.
we really can't complain much
a little sluggish, sometimes, but usually online (probably well over 99%)
