In my era, it was English super groups, started with the Beatles and died with disco. My favourite band was the Yardbirds (later Led Zepperlin) but there were many others. Clannad for classy Irish style folk music and some of the American bands from around the Woodstock era. I particularly like Crosby Stills Nash & Young and own a CD of Deja Vu.

Nice music . I've heard it some time ago. What times those when one could sing something and capture the attention of the public wit no need to be half naked, like Miley Cyrus... I'm definitely getting older

Since Irish music was mentioned, there's really only one band that need be remembered:
The Bothy Band.
Chieftains? Yeah, good.
Planxty? Yeah, good.
Clannad? Mmm, OK.
Fairport Convention? Not Irish, but good.
(same with the Pentangle and Steeleye Span)
Boys of the Lough? Yeah, good.
De Danann? Yeah, good.
But the Bothy Band kicked major ass!
(I used to listen a lot to that music.)

Another song from the old 80s: Barón Rojo - Hijos de Caín (Children of Cain).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2UVDVciRA0
Letra Lyric
La Biblia cuenta una historia The bible tells a story
que un Dios terrible dictó that a terrible God dictated
el drama de dos hermanos, the drama of two brothers,
el justo y el traidor the righteous and the traitor
Abel mezquino y cobarde, Abel petty and cowardly,
Caín que no entró en el juego Cain who did not enter the game
y que se reveló and what was revealed
Te maldigo, truena la voz de su juez I curse you, the voice of your judge thunders
padre nuestro, que nos privó del edén Our father, who deprived us of Eden
Caín rompio con un gesto su yugo de esclavitud Cain broke his yoke of slavery with a gesture
huyó del ojo implacable he fled from the relentless eye
llevó su propia cruz he carried his own cross
Perseguido por quebrantar una ley, Persecuted for breaking a law,
que no entiende y que no cuenta con el that he does not understand and that he does not have the
Sufriras, moriras you will suffer, you will die
esta es su voluntad this is His will
pero aún hay aqui but there is still here
Hijos de Caín sons of Cain
La estirpe del fugitivo, creció y se multiplico The race of the fugitive, grew and multiplied
el signo que los margina ya nunca se borro the sign that marginalizes them has never been erased
te maldigo, claman los hijos de Abel I curse you, cry out the sons of Abel
a la diestra de su señor el poder at the right hand of the lord of his power
Sufriras, moriras you will suffer, you will die
esta es su voluntad this is His will
pero aún hay aqui but there is still here
Hijos de Caín sons of cain
Oh! Oh!
Quizá los hombres seamos a un tiempo Abel y Caín Perhaps we men are both Abel and Cain
I'll destroy the dark in me
I have chosen to be what I will always be

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvE4MVKiivA
y me aplicaron ley antiterrorista.
Yo no soy jesucristo garcía
y me aplicaron ley antiterrorista.
P.d.:
no consigo recordar
como puede llegar
de la orilla hasta mar adentro,
ah si ya lo recuerdo!
he muerto en el naufragio
de tu barco de guerra traicionero
y resucité al tercer día
en el psiquiátrico,
absurdo invento.

ELP's Pictures were my first contact with classical music. I was perhaps 14 or 16 years old, I don't remember exactly, and up to this point I had always detested classical music. Now I have a collection of over 100 classical CDs, plus an equal number of mostly progressive rock discs.
