Title: general repository saved
Post by: guga on May 31, 2023, 04:49:50 AM
Hi Guys

Unfortunatelly, our friend Steve passed away. So, in order to preserve his legacy, i saved the whole forum (or at leats what i suceeded to save) in mediafire.

Here is the link of the whole forum.

https://www.mediafire.com/file/q7v8v0n2wnxj7qw/Masm32Forum.rar/file

I´ll try to create a temporary forum for us too if it happens that the forum vanishes eventually.

Hi guga,

Many thanks. How did you manage to download the whole forum? Did you use a tool like HTTrack?

Hi Gustavo,

Thanks a lot, that was a great move

There is hope, though, that we can continue with the forum "as is". Are you aware of Stewart's post?

I have informed them of the situation etc and hopefully we will be able to gain Admin' access and begin appropriate discussions with your 'Community' of users about how to manage and look after this 'Resource', moving forward.

As both this and the other forum are Hosted together on their own Dedicated Servers, it may be that one of the members of this 'Community' may be More appropriately capable & able to take on and look after Both sites

wget can do this job, with some good command line.
https://gist.github.com/FlamingTempura/3809f1ed6a2abc002df4

I'm facing some problems with attached files from sir guga backup, do you guys too? When I click in attached file, It opens a new page that should be a zip file (starts with PK signature), but when I try to save that page as file.zip so I'm not being able to decompress a file. That .zip file was embebedded inside html, so, I'm supposing that suffered some conversion.

sirs, I found some old cd-roms in my house that contains old masm32 board archived, I think from year 2004 to 2007???.
When sir Hutch moved to this new board, most of that messages was lost. A link to "old uk archived board" dates from 2012.
Found too a lot of source codes (and executables) downloaded from that time (generally dealing with win95, win98, ms-dos,...).
Do you guys have interest in this?

Hi Guys

tks.

Vortex, yes, i used HTTrack :)

Btw, i´ll create later a temporary place for store this and others foruns/subforuns for all os us and will then try to see if someone can help and be moderator/admin etc etc. I can´t right now create a new forum for us, since i don´t know how to install and use smf app tat Steve used to build the forum, but i can use a temporary solution untill we can find a better way. I´m just finishing to add subforuns and a couple of details and will post here the link.

Anyone is welcome to help as moderator, or also admin to help me continue with a place to build our tools and maintain contact. I´ll try post the new link tonight

I´m not sure if the attached files where saved when i was using HTTrack. In any case, if you could, please upload the older files you told. I believe i also should still have it somewhere in my backup dvds, but i won´t find them easily

Ok sir guga.
I'm downloading attached files now, this takes hours. If my connection don't goes down I will upload probably to link bellow.
I was looking here and found old rosasm too (maybe historical reasons). I'm separating things now, this can take days to be concluded, but when done I will post all old source codes collected in that time (1997? to 2004?) relative to assembly programming in link bellow.
https://archive.org/details/@mineiro_masm32

Or just enter link:
https://archive.org/
and search for masm32

PLEASE: HAVE IN MIND THAT SOME CODES CAN HAVE PROBLEMS!!!. PERSONS WAS LEARNING WINDOWS PROGRAMMING.
I DO NOT CHECKED FOR VIRUS. YOUR OWN RISK.

Hi Guga,

MASM forum uses "Simple Machines Forum" software written in PHP with MySQL Database.
It is located in the http://masm32.com/board/ folder on the http://masm32.com/ server.
The HTML home page is rendered with http://masm32.com/board/index.php (no parameters)
In order for the PHP code to extract from the DataBase and generate and display a specific HTML page, the parameters of the corresponding entry in the DataBase must be added.
Example: http://masm32.com/board/index.php?PHPSESSID=6bk89fk3ghgjjbj0ovl7kpon51&topic=10783.msg119781#new
Addition, deletion and editing of all records (messages, users etc.) in the DataBase are carried out by commands in the PHP files to which external programs such as "HTTrack Website Copier" do not have access.
If you have a Backup of the current DataBase with the extension .sql, made using the PHPMyAdmin tool by the administrator of the website http://masm32.com/
you can install the "Simple Machines Forum" software with this DateBase on another server and work will continue.
Without a Backup of DataBase you can install the "Simple Machines Forum" software on another server and start the job from scratch (with an empty DataBase).
The HTML files from Guga's MASM.rar (many thanks!) will be in a separate folder on the other server and  also in a separate folder archives from the old Masmforum.com.

Note:  1.How to create totally free Domain and website hosting pls, search Youtube.com for
"Free Webhosting with Free Domain - freenom domain"
2. You can download and use  software "Simple Machines Forum" for free.
3.  Every Html file from Guga's MASM.rar file has in the begining:
<!-- Mirrored from masm32.com/board/index.php?topic=7126.msg77126 by HTTrack Website Copier/3.x [XR&CO'2014], Tue, 30 May 2023 15:48:31 GMT -->
<!-- Added by HTTrack --><meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html;charset=UTF-8" /><!-- /Added by HTTrack -->

when I click on a zip attachment the browser open the zip as an html file, for example the attachment Zlib3.zip from http://masm32.com/board/index.php?topic=10269.0 shows like this PK ΚUZlib/PK ÒšUZlib/ComplexPow32/PK¡"U™´Ä Zlib/ComplexPow32/ComplexPow.asmåVmoÚ0 and so on
it looks like the contents of a zip file so maybe there's way to somehow retrieve the page as binary and save as a zip file

actually you can save as a zip file and all is there
right-click on the zip attachment and Save Link as
for the Zlib3.zip you will see in the save as dialog indexf0d6.html as the file to save, just change it to the proper zip extension, also in the file type change to *.*

Hey Hi Guys,... are you Sure what you are trying to do / achieve is actually Necessary ???

As I mentioned in My Posts AND communications with Jochen (jj2007), as far as the Immediate future is concerned,.. there Really is NO Need to do anything,.. Desperate as far as the Forum and it's continuation is concerned.

I have been a Long standing friend of Hutch's, since 1970 and similarly to yourselves perhaps held Hutcho dearly in my Heart and Mind and DO care very much about continuing his various Legacies and Endeavours !!

As I was informed by the Hosting company here in Sydney,.. there are NO Imminent Outstanding 'Bills' and Especially due to the Circumstances, of which they are aware, there is No Intention to change or shutdown the Forums or Stop the Hosting.

I am at the moment simply waiting for a copy of the Death Certificate, to allow the Hosting Service Provider to give me Access to the Accounts and Server Access etc.

Once that is Established Full Server Side Backups of the Current Forum etc can be Made.

I have already suggested to the Hosting company that Both of Hutch's Forums Should be Maintained,.. at least for the forseeable future Long or Short term,.. which ofcourse Will be Up to You the Members of this Community.

I am More than happy to Help (and IS my Intention) to help Transition these excellent Resources to allow this and the Other Forum to Continue,.. hopefully, Seamlessly.

I am More than happy to discuss the various matters but possibly Best to wait until I have Full Access and Admin access etc, so all relevant details are known etc.

I hope this information helps and to alleviate ANY and All Fears of the Forum disappearing etc,.. :)

Cheers,
Stewart Amos

Thanks a lot Stewart - what Guga und Mineiro did was/is useful as a safety measure, but keeping the forum "as is" would indeed be the best option.

I agree, easier to have existing loads of information, many years information from programming questions /answers that you can find with search function, without work needed to migrate to other place
But make backup never wrong in case anything happens to forum
I even went further download the sdk's
