Title: Good, not so good, and... (Scheiss)
Post by: Magnum on December 31, 2012, 01:18:00 PM
I am having a lot of luck with Linux Puppy on a pendrive. That is what I am sending this message through.

I wanted a i386 directory, so I dled sp3 and installed it and got that i386 dir.

Unfortunately, there were a lot of problems after rebooting.

73 instances of explorer opened, and about 4 errors with other things.

Of course, the ever useless event viewer was empty of any errors.

I stopped aclntusr.exe and kusrinit.exe and miraculously when I login, XP immediately tells me it is saving my settings and it shuts down.

I tried BartPE, but it doesn't let you run services to get programs restarted.

Windows Install disk didn't help much either. It got me to a recovery console but I forgot how to use it.  :t

I will be sending a donation to Linux.

Andy

You did do a disk image save before you tried to install ANY Windows SP?

I had the same bad luck with SP2 and I just did a disk image restore and was back in business.

I have only one drive and no pendrives big enuf to hold a disk image.

I ran erunt before the Sp3 installation. But I can't run it.

Now I am having problems with Linux puppy getting the wireless drivers loaded.

I will get it going or I will be in trouble with my daughter.  :dazzled:
