Title: Webd a 90kB lightweight web file sharing/managing server.
Post by: webd on July 25, 2024, 12:43:09 PM
I made this tiny thing years ago, hope you like it.
It's not opensourced, but I didn't do anything to stop it from been disassembled.
You are not allowd to publish the codes disassembled from it. I must emphasize this point on this forum.
Due to its very small size, this software is somewhat open-source for those who are skilled in assembly language.

The "webd-20240711-win32.zip" attached here is only for convenience, when new version released. It manybe updated, or maybe not.

OK,that's kewl, haven't yet looked at the project.
But my question remains: what is Webd?
Just curious.

I downloaded your .7z archive, but I didn't see any assembly language files there. Did I miss something?

I'm not a native English speaker. I think you are asking why I name it as'webd'?
I named it casually, webd short for webdisk.

As I said, it's not a open source project. I only published the tiny binaries for all kind of platforms.

Hi webd
Your binary is immediately stopped by the OS (Win10) with a big blue security warning.
I'm not a fan of running unknown exes on my machine without first seeing what they do.
I deleted all files, sorry...

Good idea, considering the circumstances.

Yes, I thought that "WebD" might be some kind of programming language or platform or something. My bad.

One other question: you say you're not a native speaker of English, but your writing is actually very good, even idiomatic English. Non-idiomatic English is a tell with people who aren't native speakers, several of who are here on this site. (Just as my writing in their native language would be very un-idiomatic!)

I'm just curious whether you used a translation tool of some kind, or an "AI" app, to write your posts? If not, then you have a better grasp of English than a lot of native speakers!

Then I'm wondering why you told the OP they had created a nice tool (https://masm32.com/board/index.php?msg=132608) way up there at the beginning ...

Maybe He first test it on win7 with Windows Defender tunned off.
I haven't test it on win10/win11 yet, I'm just a guy from 3rd world country who don't have a good enough computer to run full feature version of win10, and the win7 I'm using is "shrinked" by ntlite.

Only recently I started to try to share webd on English forum/bbs.

But in the world of my native language, it has been popular for many years.

Good for me.  :toothy:

The .7z file is 1/65.
The webd.exe extracted from .7z is 3/75.

Hi
Judging by the help images and the description available, the OP has managed to write a WEB server, created a WEB interface and implemented one or more file transfer protocols. In my eyes it is a nice (and useful) tool.
It is a pity that it is not open source so that it can be used without concerns.
