Would be great if you posted a description of what the program does, or is supposed to do...

Some sort of file manager?, by looking at the screenshot would be a guess at best.

Hi
The first beta version of Pirates Launcher.
One small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind. :-)

The Blacklist isn't working until now and the information screen isn't up to date.

I encounter problems if scanning huge directories containig 100.000 or more files without a filter.
In that case the listview control, espacially in icon mode, could be disrupted (Win10, i5-4670, Radeon 6400, SSD, 16GB RAM).
Bug reports are welcome...

Hi
The second beta of Pirates Launcher.

Main updates:
- Auto scan on startup removed
- Only one button, the red one, to execute a new scan
- Faster response to abort scanning <ESC>
- At least one file filter must be applied
- Exact user search string is full working
- Doubleclick to open a file or folder from the favourite list
- Build in blacklist now working
- Blacklist and Favlist are limited to 255 entries, should be enough
- Button to open the shortcut folder, to edit, copy, delete or rename shortcuts
- Service dropdown control removed and replaced with buttons, for faster access
- Enhanced status bar messages, to provide more information
- Fixed: Option to open the URL, changing cursor to hand on mouseover
- Toggle the main window size if clicking the author area in the title
- Shortcut creation moved to a thread
- Code cosmetic
- Minor bug fix

Updated screenshot and download link in the first post.

What is it? What does it do?

Hi
The third beta release of Pirates Launcher.
This one is a quick bug fix (freezing if adding a new folder).
I'm very sorry!
Take care that the title bar displays Version 2025.016 Beta.
If not open the Task-Manager and end all Pirates Launcher Tasks.

For your pleasure it's the current state of the app.
Including icon view in the favourite list, not perfect but i'm working on that.
Load and save preferences are not working today.

The download link in the first post is updated.

Not totally unfamiliar in this forum.

Actually, this "app" obviously isn't "finished". One may even suspect that it's "junk" or an "experiment" - and that it (with almost 100% probability) isn't written in assembly. So, according to this sub-forum's rules, it definitely doesn't belong here.

C'mon Test Department, stick around for some lively conversation...  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Hardly anyone here would even run your program without knowing what it does, or is supposed to do (by hearing about it directly from the author).

heuristic the most untrustworthy diagnosis ever

Jotti gave it a 100% pass, a quick look in IDA didn't find anything unusual either.

I was actually less worried about malware in the OP's executable than I was annoyed at his total lack of interest in letting us know at least WTF the thing was, fer chrissakes.

I guess as there has been a number of 'Versions', that is a quite reasonable suggestion,.... would Miscellaneous Projects be more appropriate ?? ... especially as so far there has not been any description of what it's real purpose is.

Perhaps another example of there NOT really being an appropriate Category/Section for works being 'developed', that isn't just code etc

???

I dunno about that: why not the Workshop? that's for works in progress.

Yeah, .. see that's where the Section description is misleading:
The Workshop is where general purpose questions and answers are posted. Any assembler programming topic is welcome and discussion is encouraged as long as its friendly.
Obviously, there are NO questions being asked here and as you have clearly pointed out, NO actual 'Discussion' as such, so whilst the Title would seem correct, the description perhaps is not ??

My thoughts regarding noving to Miscellaneous Projects, was simply based on its description, being;
A place for projects that are hard to put a handle on
Which it would seem THIS is  :wink2:

Happy to Move it wherever is deemed appropriate

Let's wait to see if Rip Van Winkle (the OP) awakens from his long slumber long enough to tell us what his project is all about.

He already HAD contributed by contacting myself and Providing his recently Reviewed and Updated 'Test Department' Files and allowing them to be placed on the server for download !! ... Which I have done.

So, he has NOT simply; "Taken his toys and slunk back home"
With so few active members and capable coders here, as an 'Observer', I would Politely suggest his departure is ever so slightly more disappointing than merely expressing it as 'Spilt Milk' !!

This is what I saw here. elC posts his programs executable file here (without any source code to refer to). It was still under development apparently and not finished. No description of what the program was intended for, or what it was supposed to do.
Are we expected to debug the program for him, or help him find bugs in it, under those conditions? Even after repeated requests for more information about the program?

Definitely, it was not Showcase ready... and his unwillingness to participate in any discussions regarding it (by answering our requests for more info), leads me at least, to believe he only intended to use the forum as a platform to promote his wares, without any interaction with the other members here.    :undecided:

Not very good optics from my point of view. My opinions of course.

I agree with Zedd. And on top of that the guy wouldn't even explain what the hell the thing he posted was (and it was certainly not obvious at all).

No sympathy here.

I think they're wondering, as are some of us, why you seem so ... generous towards the OP when they've been so unresponsive.

Yeah, we know that they allowed their stuff to be posted here, but that doesn't seem like an adequate reason to let them slide on their refusal to communicate here.

But I guess it's all pretty much a dead letter now ...
