Title: Will 800 Mhz work instead of 400 Mhz ?
Post by: Magnum on July 13, 2013, 01:45:29 PM
I have an H.P. 6730b laptop that has the 400 Mhz memory chips.

I can't find any 400 Mhz memory for it.

Will 800 Mhz chips work in it ?

PC2-6400 (DDR2-800)

Generally, DDR is 400 whereas DDR2 is 800. Different layout, so DDR2 won't fit into a DDR slot.

Am I misreading the speed as 400 Mhz ?

I don't understand the "400 X 2". If it is 800 Mhz, why don't they just say it.  :t

Internal speed versus bus speed.

Sinsi,

System Information for Windows reported some wrong information for my RAM.

I found Astra32 which is more accurate and up to date.

My memory is 800 Mhz.
