I wish everyone a joy filled and peaceful Thanksgiving for those that celebrate it and the same joy and peaceful holiday times for others.

Sorry to hear that.

I don't know about Professors, but I have heard that many Germans get 4 or 5 weeks of vacation a year ?

That's true. Professors have a lot of vacation per year. I'm not harping. But Thanksgiving is here in the Protestant Prussia a usual working day. I've to do my scheduled 4 lectures. Never mind, I'll think of you.

Thanksgiving is a US thing, for the most part
many other countries have made some sort of holiday fall on the same weekend
in England they have "Harvest Festival" or "Lammas Day"
