Title: Pci Express slot question
Post by: Magnum on January 30, 2014, 07:15:28 AM
I can not tell if this will fit in a x16 PCI Express slot.

it says PCI express slot
i don't think that is the same as an "x16 PCI" slot :)

They have 3 versions of PCI EXPRESS slots. Mine is the x16.

Andy

Various PCI slots. From top to bottom:

    PCI Express ×4
    PCI Express ×16
    PCI Express ×1
        Legacy PCI (32-bit)

ah - i see, now
a little searching says it should work
you have an x16 slot and what appears to be an x4 card

http://superuser.com/questions/366911/can-i-be-100-certain-that-a-pcie-x4-card-will-fit-in-a-pcie-x16-slot (http://superuser.com/questions/366911/can-i-be-100-certain-that-a-pcie-x4-card-will-fit-in-a-pcie-x16-slot)

it would make sense that, if the board fits in the slot, it will work

don't know about the quality, but that's a good price
i think i paid $80 for the LinkSys card i have - but that was when the 802g.11 technology was fairly new
