Hi Van,

Nine threads for Bochs (http://bochs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/topper.pl?name=Bochs+FAQ&url=http://bochs.sourceforge.net/doc/docbook/user/faq.html) in the new forum, two pages of threads in the old one.

Also Dosbox comes to mind. Also I remember a program that allows you to mount and boot an ISO file from windows. . I have never tried the last one and can't remember its name.

Some time ago I used Bochs to  play with different mini OSs like Kolibri, MenuetOS, Solar OS
After some additional reading it turned out that Bochs PC emulator has advanced features . Bult-in debugger is one of them .
Here two interesting links :Bochs, PC Bootstrap, ... (http://flint.cs.yale.edu/cs422/precepts/bochs.html) and Customizing Bochs (https://defuse.ca/bochs-hacking-guide.htm)
The second link leads to very interesting site with very interesting software (online opcode generator etc.)
