Title: Chinese operating System
Post by: shankle on August 26, 2014, 09:59:03 PM
So are we all going to rush out and get the new Chinese OS?
Maybe this is just the thing to wake up Microsoft and get them off their
erratic course! God I hope so.......

I don't think that it will be a serious rival. Many people are not even aware of Linux. For them, OS means simply Windows.

Do you want to be spied on by the Chinese government in addition to your own?

It's purely for the Chinese market, to further remove any dependence on Western technology and ideals.

What is this Chinese OS?
Kylin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kylin_%28operating_system%29)?
Well that's another Linux distro, not an OS built from scratch.

That OS is probably Kylin. Today, many Linux distributions are forks.

That's true. Crucial is the version of the kernel.
