I found a 10,000 bill in a stamp collection that my father left me.
It looks like this and it was made in 1928.
I thought it was counterfeit, but it looks real.
They made them for a while.
Is it still valid currency ?
Take it to a bank and find out, 10 grand in your pocket would probably help. If its rare, it may be worth a lot more so try a currency collector. I just happen to own about a half a dozen American silver dollars made before 1900 and they go on the market for about $20 - 30 USD each.
Thanks Steve.
I used to own 5 silver dollars that a lady gave me for payment for newspapers.
I sold them when silver was real high about 20 years.
I wish I had not sold them.
I still have a decent American and German stamp collection.
If indeed the bill is real, and it is the large format, most likely it is a collectors dream...As hutch said check it out, perhaps with someone who collects old money...
Searched,and check this site out...
http://www.oldcurrencyvalues.com/10000_Dollar_Bill.html (http://www.oldcurrencyvalues.com/10000_Dollar_Bill.html)
At the bottom of the page they mention its worth.
$10,000 Bill Value: Prices start at $30,000 for a note in poor condition and go up quickly from there.
So,yeh you need to check it out.
There have been no bills > $100 in circulation for a long time, I think as a way of interfering with the illegal drug trade. And I know of one collector who made the mistake of using some large bills for collateral on a bank loan, and subsequently had them taken by the feds, and while I don't have a clear memory of this, I think they paid him only the face value.
you should be able to tell by the feel of the paper
i doubt it's real
but, if it is....
paper money isn't as likely to appreciate like coinage does
see if you can get more than face from a numismatologist
otherwise, get the 10K and run - lol
A numismatist said the bill was worth in the range of 40,000 -> 45,000.
did he authenticate the bill ?
Yes.
sweeet
i'd find a buyer and get rid of it as soon as possible - lol

If its real, then it would be of more value to a collector than the 10k it represents. You just need to find the right collector.
I am looking.
I have a large German and U.S. stamp collection.
Potential buyers were rare and offered ridiculously low prices for stamps in excellent condition.
I am talking about unused stamps with glue on the backs.
I know that buyers will probably want to sell the stamps, but I will NOT give them away.
I spent too much time collecting and taking care of them.
But I can be patient. :-)
It's redundant for a stamp collector to say that he can be patient ... ;)
