While not good for oil workers, it's great for everyone else.
One of my daughters works for a company that sells supplies to shale oil producers.

It looks like China is seeing a slowdown resulting in lower demand for oil.
What's interesting is that last summer, a barrel of oil was priced at over $100,...and, for the five years preceding that oil was at an all-time historical high. The OPEC countries were making huge profits, and, probably thinking about world domination, again.
You are right.
Oil companies has so much influence and control.
I heard that Shell is layoff a lot of workers along with Haliburton.
Breaks my heart. NOT !!
Gas is running $2.30/gallon in my area.
I would be interested in the price in states other than Texas and other countries.
One US gallon is 3.78541 litres, we pay $1.49 per litre which makes it $5.64 AUD per gallon, $4.12 USD per gallon.
Thanks sinsi.
Your price is proabably based on the distance.

You guys, that's a very strange discussion. Do you know the prices in Europe? For example Germany or Italy? You would be frustrated.

The highest prices in Europe for regular(95) are in The Netherlands and Norway, € 1.74 per litre.

The World market price is the same for everybody, so the difference is due to taxation. Those who have high taxes (Europe) have efficient cars and low consumption, and enjoy a certain independence from the OPEC; those who have low taxes (the U.S.) have inefficient cars and high consumption, and are forced to kiss the a** of Mr Salman (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salman_of_Saudi_Arabia).
Gas prices (http://www.numbeo.com/gas-prices/)
As of today, regular gas is at 1.99 per gallon in my area. :-)
$2.30+ or so in New England :(
That's pretty good. Any refineries in the area ?
That's pretty good.
- better than it has been lately, but it was 27 cents in 1970 ... the jump (to much higher prices) happened in 1973, thanks to Kissinger
Any refineries in the area ?
- no, we're pretty much at the mercy of Middle East Arabs, who don't like us much; and Texans, who famously said (in '73) "let 'em freeze to death in the dark" (gotta admit, it's a good line )
Dropped from $2.09 to $1.88 here over the last few days. However, probably won't need gas for another month or so since I just filled up...
