Title: Backup Headaches
Post by: shankle on February 01, 2017, 05:40:37 AM

I hope I am correct in what I am saying.

Stats: Windows 7 pro 64-bit, Mini Tool Partition Wizard
           Clonezilla-live, Macrium Reflect, Redo Backup
         1T spinner, 240G SSD

You create backups with a backup program
and one day you need to do a restore.
Then when it's to late you find out that you
can't restore from a larger drive to a smaller drive...

I think I have found a solution to that. Well it worked
    for me.
Let's say you have a 240G SSD in your computer. Then you should
resize your spinner to a partition of 240G. What you do with
the rest is up to you.
Now the above programs will allow the above packup programs to
work in a restore situation. There are probably others that will
    act in the same manner.

Thanks for the info.

Ubuntu is my main O.S. :-)

Way  more stable and no B.S.

Sorry for the harsh language.

Hi Magnum,
My wife is now on Ubuntu-mate. She uses Gmail on it with no problems.
For her, I now don't have to pay for programs to stop the hacker nonsense.
However I am stuck with windows. To many programs to change and I just
went through a masm32 to GoAsm conversion. Reason 32-bit to 64-bit.

I've read some disturbing news on Dedoimedo's site about Ubuntu.
Go to www.dedoimedo.com - article is called  "ubuntu 17.04 zesty zapata".
It's all caused by this phone nonsense. Not immediate but who knows
when they will discontinue Ubuntu.. Please read the article and let me know
what you think about it. This fellows thing is reviewing Linux and Windows
OS's.
