Title: ANIMALS!
Post by: felipe on March 31, 2018, 02:11:08 AM
Presentation:
Planning for a safari  8)? Are you a hunter ? Maybe you just love animals ? Or are you just an assembly guru who enjoy of laughing of my simple programs  :icon_eek:? Well whatever your reason is, you can get more familiar with some animals of are world if you play this little game, (or with my simple programs in the last case ).

History:
Based in a game that i made for my daughter. Basically the same thing, but in spanish. Also, she can't access the code or the folder of the sounds, so the game is more challenging for her  :bgrin:.

Instructions:
Well, the game is so simple and intuitive that doesn't require any instructions more than this: To play the game correctly you have to download all the sounds files of this thread (they are 14). Locate all those files in a subfolder named "sounds" inside a folder named "animals" or whatever you want. This last folder (i.e. the "main" folder, which can have whatever name, remember that), can be located in whatever place of your choice in your pc, but must contain the subfolder named "sounds" and the .exe file named animals.exe. This last file (i.e. animals.exe) have to be placed in the "main" folder alongside the "sounds" folder, not inside the "sounds" folder. After all that, you can create a direct access file in the desktop of animals.exe (just if you want to do that). Yeah, windows allows such nice things. I hope is all clear  :icon_rolleyes:.

Special notes:
Is a very simple program, bloated with this .wav files... Thanks to hutch for the random algo and to all others who showed interest.  :icon14:

And now a freak, self-imaginary and fictituos dialog with a critic who lives in my mind: (what?)  :dazzled:
Critic: You said before, you would leave console programs and would work in gui programs... :icon_eek:
Myself: I know, i know, please be patience with me... :P

After all the files that you have attached, maybe Hutch is encouraged to start hunting snakes :greensml:

I was thinking the same thing.

Probably could have uploaded all in one post.

Now I have to expedite my computer purchase...   :eusa_dance:

Can't wait to see your stuff.  :icon14:

Just a side note about the instructions: of course, you need to turn the volume on of your pc, if it's off.   :icon_exclaim:

It's fun Felipe!!

Although I could never get the right answer...

Hutch, this week there were three threads about games.
How about creating a forum just for game related subjects?

I hope than the reason for this is some kind of difficulty of the game. I fully tested the game and works fine. Glad that you tried, thanks again.  :icon14:

hey Felipe, do you like the idea of a separate forum special for games? that would be nice.

we could post game related things there and so forth...

Hutch, how about that?
Title: Re: ANIMALS!
Post by: felipe on March 31, 2018, 12:54:18 PM
Well man, i don't know. Hutch is the owner of the forum. Also i can't compromise to just develop games. And finally, there may be a lot of topics to do, and probably is not practical to do a separate forum (inside this "big" forum) for each of this topics.

well, I agree, but it would be nice. Let's wait for Hutch

I am not sure what you are after, you can code anything you like and as long as its legal you can post it here.

nice game felipe, I was glad you uploaded it :t
nobody will laugh at it
@lordadef
I totally agree on a game forum, 3 threads is just uploading threads, dont forget to count all your previous threads and other members previous threads many of them are about help me learn part of assembly, so you can code your game
some code gamerelated stuff, but never get so far as release a game
but it would be nice to release that code in a game forum, free for others who want to make a game, so its not become useless

pixelshaders are originally game related

Felipe, this isnt bloated, I have a 303mb d3d folder, its easy when you want many hires textures
I also recommend a book for newbies, game programming for dummies, its C++ but there are first chapters getting started with setting up a minimal winapi skeleton, but also how to make all kinds of stuff, for example make enemies move with help of Finite State Machine coding etc

Maybe it could go as a sub-forum under "Projects", titled "Graphics & Sound for Game Development"? Right now, there are very good threads e.g. by Siekmanski, LordAdef & Caballero spread all over the place.

Or simply "Game Development".
Either way it gets my vote.  :t

I like this idea.  :t
To include Intro and Demo coding as well, it could be titled:

"Graphics & Sound for Game and Art Development"

meshes arent supposed to be in orphanage, and some love to do the same with meshes just for fun, just like asmcoders like todo extreme reduced code, some love to make meshes extremely lowpoly
and the old forum had a raytracing forum, so why cant we instead have game forum?
Title: Re: ANIMALS!

My vote for that :t

I have had a few holidays that I have used to start a Gallaga-alike project from the scratch, full masm 32 bits. I have lost a lot of time in a dead line, so it is only in a starting point. The holidays is nearly over and I will to wait to another ones.

keys:
- 0..9 to change ship
- space. to move the ship in a circle... you know, just a starting point

PD: The window is quite small, hopefully you can resize it :t

Edited: After some sports with family, lunch, a siesta , the same as before with a starfield in the background

"Graphics & Sound for Game and Art Development",

this is excellent!

If Hutch is ok with the proposal I offer myself to collect the relevant threads and send him the links for evaluation (there are dozens of them spread all over the places).

Asm was the King of game development and is still fully used in game industry. It's a nice move

"Graphics & Sound for Game and Art Development"

.....makes it sound as the sub-forum would be intended mainly for graphics and sound.  :icon_confused:

'would make more sense to be all inclusive by just naming it "Game Development", in my opinion. But the overall concept is a good one. But only if hutch-- bytes.

edit to add: one of the first (pinned) postings should be some rules regarding image and sound file size if uploaded to the forum,  as hutch has a valid concern in that regard.

that move ship in circle reminds me of a different arcade game from 80's
each stage you move around in a big circle close to borders of screen, shooting inwards in an invisible 3d tunnel, enemies appear prerendered 3d that reminds of spaceshuttles, moving outward from middle of screen and getting bigger/smaller
after clearing first stage computer takes control of your ship and a pic of Neptunus appear in fullsize onscreen and your ship enters Neptunus
and next stage gets started
its all repeated with Uranus,Saturnus,Jupiter,Mars and Earth, inbetween each has a enemy stage to fight thru,it makes use of a classic music piece

I have just added a "Games Development" forum that should address what some are after. The only request is don't fill it full of junk.

(Now if I could only convince hutch I'm zedd151, and to reset password....)
