Hi Hutch or anyone else that wants to chime in.
Stats: windows 10 pro 64 bit uefi, 2 SSDs,
external HD to store the image on.
I know this has been disscussed before but I need
someone to come down to the dummy level if they would
be so kind.
I have had the commercial windows 10 pro version crammed
down my throat. Needless to say I am NOT a happy camper.
What I want to do is a simple image of my 2 SSDS and be
able to restore them when needed. It would be ok if I
could just image the Windows SSD and restore it. Then
I could just copy the 2nd SSD(my data) to the HD.
Macrium Reflect (the free version) and I do not get along.
I am able to backup the image but not able to restore it.
AND I do not know if it is backing up both SSDs.
Clonezilla-live which I have used for years doesn't work
for me on Windows 10. So the end result is I have NO
backup at the present time.
I might have to spring for some money but don't want to
buy a program that is complicated like Macrium Reflect.
It is not necessary for a simple image program.
I am at a loss as to what to do.....
I will be happy to supply any other data that is needed.

Its not an easy question to answer. There are a few image apps like Macrium that I don't like and wasted the money on, Acronis is the other. An approach that does work is using a disk cloning app to write the disk image to another hard disk but it involves having another disk and being able to connect it to the computer to do so.
Acronis creates a bootable disk the can access a disk image you have already made then write it back to your boot drive but its fiddly and a bit complicated to use.

Windows 10 already comes with a utility to make system image that you can use for restore, see https://www.windowscentral.com/how-make-full-backup-windows-10

I don't know what you mean by obsoleted as it still works, I use it with no problems
Sorry Jack but I hate to tell you the bad news about Windows central .com.
Scroll down in the item you quoted "windows 10 system image backup
feature notice". There you will see that Microsoft is fazing out this backup.
